Ward 4 candidate Max Skolnik protects Councilmember Muriel Bower’s Petworth campaign headquarters from the elements.
The early bird catches the snow storm. Ward 4 candidate Max Skolnik and a crew of volunteers shoveled the ice-encrusted sidewalks of Ward 4 Councilmember Muriel Bowser’s Petworth campaign headquarters and other local businesses Saturday morning. Kudos to Skolnik for a fine display of civic-minded agitprop. Perhaps he or the other candidates for the council seat could take a whack at some propaganda-free shoveling on the Kansas Ave. side of E.L. Hayes Public Charter School — apparently some kind of DMZ of responsibility. Somehow the city managed to clean up Sherman Circle and someone (DCPS?) took care of the 7th Ave. side of the school. But as of this writing, the Kansas Ave. side remains more fit for extreme speed skaters than for pedestrians. Remember, it’s for the children! — Tom Anderson
